ETHICS CONSULTATION The Department of Bioethics and Medical Ethics is also committed in giving technical opinions over bioethical and legal issues. In particular with regards: 1) Clinical trials of pharmaceuticals; 2) Research on human beings; 3) Research on animals; 4) Ethical dilemmas in medical practice; 5) Professional ethics; 6) Biotechnology; 7) Health Policy 8) Biolegislation.
To accomplish this purpose this department collaborates with several institutional ethical committees, the Medical Barr, the Portuguese Government and even the Portuguese Parliament. Also, in partnership with the Portuguese Association of Bioethics, the Department of Bioethics and Medical Ethics gives opinions over bioethical issues of great relevance and actuality.
